Father Carpenter Coffee: Mitte's Hidden Brunch Gem

Münzstraße, already known for its stylish fashion boutique stores and heavy tourist foot traffic, is developing, changing and growing more lavish with mainstream global brand names every week. Fortunately, tucked away in the courtyard on the adjacent corner to the Weinmeisterstraße U-Bahn, hidden behind the chaos, Father Carpenter is quietly serving some of the best coffee and brunch in town.

Since opening in the autumn of 2014, the café has grown quickly, both in size and its strong customer following. Using Five Elephant beans and, most recently, incorporating their own locally roasted beans Fjord Coffee (in partnership with Silo, another fantastic café in Friedrichshain), both the milk and black coffee balance rich flavour and elegance with bouquets of earthy and fruity tones.

The food menu has grown too, first starting off with just light brioche breakfast rolls, cakes, and sweets, the café is pumping out delicious Sunday brunch meals including braised pork shoulder Eggs Benedict, avocado on toast with poached eggs and seasonal muesli, plus many, many more.

Branching out into both sides of the courtyard, with free water, delicate flowerpots and fancy salt, spotting a table inside or out can be difficult. With the space rising in popularity since winter left us, table service has now been introduced.

Likely the most underrated café in Berlin, Father Carpenter is pulling out all the stops with delicious food, crafted coffee and a sophisticated but relaxing vibe.
